Earth Week activities scheduled at VCSU

Earth Week activities scheduled at VCSU
The Environment Task Force at VCSU is pleased to announce activities scheduled to celebrate Earth Week April 23-26, and the campus is invited to participate in the fun and games.

Celebrated annually since 1970, Earth Week is an opportunity to create awareness and appreciation for our planet Earth. Everyone is encouraged to get involved and learn through displays at the Student Center, board game competition, ecological footprint participation, and clean-up activities.

A highlight of the week will be the First Annual VCSU Earth Day Festival on Wednesday, April 25 beginning at 6:00 pm at the Medicine Wheel Park (in case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the VCSU Student Center). All VCSU faculty, staff, and students and the community of Valley City are invited to visit with vendors to learn more about how we can take care of our planet. Musical entertainment and games for all ages will be provided. The evening will conclude with a performance by Lakota Thunder, a Grammy nominated Native American drum group.

A color has been assigned to each day during the week, and you are encouraged to dress in that color in order to draw attention to our environment and the Earth Week events. Photo opportunities will be sought out for groups dressed in the day's color.

Volunteers are needed to run activities during the week and during the Festival. The full schedule with descriptions of activities will be available soon – watch for details! For further information and to volunteer, contact Rhonda Fairfield at 845-7102 or rhonda.fairfield@vcsu.edu.
