Viking Softball runs the Fargo Mini-Marathon

Viking Softball runs the Fargo Mini-Marathon
As a challenge from Valley City State University Softball Coaches Chad Slyter and Elle Fracker, the Viking Softball team participated in the annual Fargo Mini Marathon races on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Each member of the team chose a race to run, trained throughout the fall and completed their race on Saturday morning. The players represented Viking pride which was noted and commented on by VCSU alumni that also ran in the races, or were spectators along the race routes.

The following Vikings ran in the following races: 5K-Mackenzie Hamre, Caitlin Giesbrecht, Sam Nalley, Katie Langdon and Liz Hall; 10K-Taylor Schroeder, Hilary Kulczewski, Savannah McMillin, Stephanie Lahey, Katarina Boychuk, Shayna Taffinder, Cejay Hilhorst, Torri Fenton, Courtney Shadlock and Hayley Bevan; Half Marathon-Adrianna Boychuk.

Klingenstein serves as clinician

Klingenstein serves as clinician
Valley City State University Professor Dr. Beth Gigante Klingenstein recently served as the guest clinician for the Louisiana Music Teachers Association, a state affiliate of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

While in Louisiana, Klingenstein gave five presentations:
* Professionalism in the Independent Studio
* Creative Curriculum: It's Not Just for K-12
* What We Charge and Why
* Teaching Skills - Not Pieces
* Arts Advocacy

Klingenstein is active in MTNA and is currently president of the North Dakota Music Teachers Association. She is a frequent clinician for local, state, and national music organizations and has presented in California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin.

Valley City State Universty Staff Senate will hold the October monthly meeting on Thursday, October 25 at 10:30 am in McCarthy Hall Room 255. Agenda and minutes are available at X:\Institution\Offices\Staff Senate.

Blackboard tip of the week!

Upload Grade Center Columns:

Grades can be created off-line and then uploaded to the Grade Center. Grades that were created in another grade system can also be uploaded for inclusion in the Grade Center. The data in the file must be synchronized to the Grade Center data by using unique identifiers for each student (User Name) and each Grade Center column (Column ID number). Column ID numbers are generated by the system and should not be changed or removed.
