Campus Update

Colleagues,

The coronavirus COVID-19 situation continues to evolve rapidly. I want to assure you that the VCSU Emergency Management Team is meeting daily, and team members are in constant communication about how we can best protect the health and wellness of the campus community and take proactive steps to help minimize the spread of this very serious illness.

To that end, Valley City State University will change the way it operates. Although we will not close the university, we will ask most VCSU employees to begin working from home no later than Wednesday, March 18, rather than coming to the workplace. We anticipate that this arrangement will last at least through Tuesday, March 31.

Only those employees whose essential work requires them to be on campus should report to their campus workplaces going forward; all other employees should prepare to work from home.

  • Staff members should meet with their supervisors yet today or tomorrow (Monday or Tuesday) to talk about specific work objectives and procedures going forward
  • Faculty members will receive additional communication from Vice President Margaret Dahlberg regarding their work arrangements
  • All employees will receive additional communication from the Employee Services Office regarding specifics on human resource policies.

These are unusual circumstances with much to be worked out, but I ask that all of you continue to do your work as best as possible under these conditions. The motto “We All Row” has been used on campus for some time; that mindset becomes even more important under extraordinary times like we’re experiencing now.

Sincerely,

Al
