Health and Travel Advisories

Valley City State University students, faculty, and staff:

The purpose of this communication is to reinforce precautionary travel and health measures to take for Coronavirus COVID-19.

One of the challenges associated with the coronavirus situation is that things can change very rapidly; the recommendations in place currently might change as the virus spreads and as new information is gained.

  • VCSU strongly encourages our students, faculty, and staff to consider all Centers for Disease Control (CDC) travel recommendations when making decisions to continue on or schedule travel to any of the affected countries or areas of outbreaks within the United States.
  • Students and employees who are traveling must stay alert to travel advisories or restrictions, airline cancellations, and recommendations from the CDC. The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) is requesting anyone who plans to travel internationally, or has traveled internationally in the past 14 days to complete this survey found on the NDDoH website to learn how you should monitor your health to protect yourself and your community. This is a voluntary survey.
  • Personal travelers will be required to comply with all U.S. re-entry and quarantine requirements in place and must verify to the university that they have done so prior to returning to the university community. Employees and students taking personal trips to an impacted country (including layovers through an impacted country) must be prepared to comply with self-isolation requirements upon their return.
  • If you are traveling during spring break and develop a fever or flu-like symptoms during the first 14 days after travel, students on campus should call Student Health Services (701-845-7305) immediately for recommendationsEmployees should call their primary care physician. Increased vigilance should be used if you travel/ed to an area with a known outbreak.

As you make your plans for travel, please keep these recommendations and safety measures in mind. We recognize the significance of these measures to members of our campus community and are committed to providing support. Our top priority is the health and safety of our campus and community.
