VCSU course delivery change in light of COVID-19
Students, Faculty and Staff:
In response to coronavirus COVID-19, Valley City State University is taking steps to protect the health and safety of the campus community.
Following spring break, we will change the way academic instruction is delivered for two weeks. From Monday, March 23, through Friday, April 3, 2020, classes will not be held on campus — we will move to online delivery, and faculty will determine how to meet their students’ needs through technology. Other off-campus learning experiences — internships, practicums, clinicals and the like — are dependent on the decision-making of external providers. Students are advised to contact instructors with specific questions.
Residence halls are closed for spring break (with some individual exceptions); that closure will continue until Sunday, April 5. Those students who have traveled for spring break are encouraged to not return until the residence halls reopen. Students on housing and dining contracts will receive additional communication regarding returning to the halls prior to the April 5 reopening.
Dining services will reopen on a limited basis on Sunday, March 22.
All other campus operations, offices and services will remain up and running through break and beyond. Staff will continue their work on campus as usual.
Our current plan is return to regular classroom instruction on Monday, April 6.
Because of the nature of the outbreak, the situation continues to evolve, and our plans will adjust accordingly, always keeping the health and safety of the campus community at the forefront of our decisions.
We will notify you of changes to our procedures; helpful information and a log of campus communications can be found at www.vcsu.edu/news/coronavirus-information. This site is being updated regularly as needed.
A reminder: The coronavirus COVID-19 illness presents serious health challenges. Please do what you can to protect your own health and that of your family and community members. Take precautions and contact medical providers should you exhibit symptoms.
Thanks for your continued attention to this situation.
Sincerely,
Al
