Major/Minor: Exercise Science and Rehabilitative Studies

Why did you choose your specific major?
I chose Exercise Science and Rehabilitative Studies because I have always had a big interest in anatomy and being able to help individuals achieve their goals during rehabilitation. I realized this was what I wanted to do when I got injured at a younger age and seeing how supportive both mentally and physically my physical trainer was, made me realize that helping people was what I wanted to do. I wanted to have the same impact on others that she had with me.
What has been your favorite memory from VCSU so far?
My favorite memory from VCSU so far would be beating Jamestown my freshman and sophomore year in the VCSU vs UJ track dual meet. There was so much energy amongst everyone and it was funny watching one of the other throwers do the worm in the middle of the indoor track.
What attracted you to VCSU?
I chose VCSU because even with me being in the United Kingdom during my enrollment, the faculty and staff still made it their mission to check in on me daily and call/FaceTime me during my signing. Even though they were over 5000 miles away from me, I still felt as if I was already part of the VCSU family before even arriving.
Where is your favorite spot to be on campus and why?
My favorite spot on campus I would have to say would be the learning commons. I spent a lot of my days in my senior year working on projects and many nights with friends laughing our way through study sessions for chemistry.
What advice do you have for someone who is thinking about coming to VCSU?
On piece of advice I would give to someone thinking about coming to VCSU would be to TAKE IT! Take the opportunity with both hands, make the jump no matter how far away from home it may take you, it can be scary, but it is all 100% worth it. VCSU is like a home away from home, whether you’re worried about classes or missing home, there is always someone prepared to talk to you and comfort you when needed. So, my advice would be to embrace it, embrace the change and soak it all in.
