COVID-19 UPDATE: Viking Safety Level

Based on the current State and community transmission levels, the VCSU Emergency Management Team has made the decision to change our current Viking Safety Level to Level 2.

WHY were we able to change our Viking Safety Level?

  • Sustained reduction in new COVID-19 cases at VCSU;
  • Little to no cases of the virus spreading in classrooms
  • Ability to conduct case investigation of new COVID-19 cases;
  • Ability to rapidly isolate all newly identified COVID-19 cases;
  • Ability to provide testing of symptomatic and identified close contacts of newly identified cases;
  • A proven, FDA-approved vaccine is available and is in the process of being administered to the Valley City Community

What does this mean for our campus operations?

  • Mask wearing and social distancing is still REQUIRED in all campus buildings.
  • COVID-19 testing will still be offered and encouraged for our campus community.
  • Classes will maintain current delivery options through the spring semester.
    • Classroom capacities will remain the same through the spring semester.
  • Event Services has updated request and evaluation processes for events hosted on campus: https://onestop.vcsu.edu/support/solutions/articles/10000052308

Without YOU, our Viking Family, we would not be making this change. Through regular cleaning, masking and physical distancing, our classroom spaces have proven to be safe, and we’ve had little to no classroom transmission of the virus. The Emergency Management Team recognizes your efforts in keeping our campus safe and healthy, and we thank you.  Keep up the great work – wear your masks, keep your distance and wash your hands – and let’s finish out this semester strong!

WE ALL ROW!
