What brought you to VCSU?
I liked the size of the campus and the smaller class sizes.I also was looking for a wildlife focused program as opposed to the broad natural resource management programs at other schools.

What did you enjoy about your time on campus?
I liked all the hands-on experience and field visits in the science classes I took. The professors are very knowledgeable and care about the subjects they teach.

Why did you choose Fisheries and Wildlife?
I have always had a passion for the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. After spending 10 years in the construction industry I decided to change careers and wanted to work with wildlife.

Did the classes you took at VCSU help prepare you for your career?
Yes, my classes gave me the resources to prepare for my new career along with the knowledge to be successful.

What would you like to do after graduation?
I want to be a wildlife biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Do you have any advice for incoming students in the Fisheries and Wildlife Program?
A lot of classes include semester-long projects, don’t put them off until the due date.If you put the time in up front to study and learn the material you will be successful in this program.

What was your favorite class and why?
I really enjoyed Ornithology. The professor, Dr. Bob Anderson is very passionate and knowledgeable on the subject. This class is fast paced, plenty of field visits and you learn to identify 300+ bird species.
