The VCSU pre-engineering program described here is not a formal degree program, but is designed to either prepare students to continue on in any area of science, technology, engineering or mathematics at any university. The benefit of preparing for Engineering at VCSU is the one-on-one attention to ensure students reach full academic potential. The program is very flexible and success depends on the cooperation of the student and the staff at VCSU.
You will start at a generic level and proceed towards a more specialization. For example, during your first year you should select the area of engineering and where you plan to complete the degree. Electrical engineering is as different from mechanical engineering as chemistry is from biology. Later on you will have electives that focus on a particular area of that engineering major. Careful planning at the beginning is necessary because many programs have courses with prerequisites that must be taken in order.
